What parcel delivery work is
The daily routine changes a lot from one company to the next:
- Amazon Flex: you book delivery blocks in the app. A standard block lasts a few hours and starts at a delivery station.
- Delhivery: partners do pickups as well as deliveries. Onboarding takes about two days, with a document check.
- Ekart: Flipkart's delivery partners, called Wishmasters, deliver on bikes.
- Porter: you carry customers' goods on trips inside the city, on a bike or scooter or a commercial goods vehicle. Documents are checked in person at the Porter city office, followed by one trial order.
- Shadowfax: there is no minimum number of deliveries per day. Onboarding, verification and training come before your first delivery.
- XpressBees: your delivery area and hub are assigned based on where you live and what you prefer. You bring your own two-wheeler and pay for fuel.
How parcel companies pay
Here is what each company says about pay:
- Amazon Flex: each block offer shows its estimated earnings before you book it. Money reaches your bank on the payment days you choose, as early as the next day.
- Delhivery: work from Monday to Sunday is invoiced and paid into your bank every week, with extra incentives for on-time deliveries. Delhivery also mentions a chance of on-roll employment with provident fund, gratuity and medical benefits.
- Shadowfax: base pay, distance bonuses, peak-hour incentives and performance bonuses, plus referral rewards that vary by city. Paid weekly through the partner app.
- XpressBees: per delivery, with incentives, peak-hour bonuses, a joining bonus and referral rewards. Paid weekly to your bank.
- Porter: fares follow Porter's standard rates, so there is no bargaining per trip. Earnings depend on how much time you spend online.
- Ekart: doesn't publish how Wishmaster pay is worked out. Flipkart mentions festive-season bonuses and referral incentives.
Fees: Porter says there is no registration fee, and XpressBees says there is no joining fee and onboarding is free.
