Documents needed for delivery jobs in Delhi NCR

Every delivery company checks your documents before your first order. Most ask for the same few: ID, PAN, bank details and, for a bike, your licence and vehicle papers. Here is what to keep ready and how to get anything you are missing.

ID, PAN and bank account: almost everyone asks

  • PAN card: Amazon Flex, Blinkit, Delhivery, Swiggy, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto and Zomato list it.
  • Aadhaar card: Delhivery and Swiggy Instamart list it. Swiggy takes Aadhaar or a Voter ID. Rapido takes Aadhaar or PAN.
  • ID and address proof: Blinkit, Shadowfax, XpressBees, Zepto and Zomato ask for address proof. BB Now asks for identity proof.
  • Bank account details: almost every company pays into your bank account, so keep your account details ready. Zomato asks for bank account proof.

Papers for your bike or scooter

If you deliver on a bike or scooter, keep these ready:

  • Driving licence for a two-wheeler
  • RC (registration certificate) of the vehicle
  • Insurance: Amazon Flex asks for at least third-party cover
  • Pollution certificate (PUC): Amazon Flex, Zepto and Rapido list it

Some work needs more. Rapido asks for a valid fitness certificate and permits, and no pending challans on the vehicle. Uber Moto lists a permit. For an e-bike, Amazon Flex asks for the e-bike exemption certificate.

Delivering on a cycle? Swiggy and Swiggy Instamart don't ask for a driving licence for a cycle.

No licence yet? How it works in Delhi

You must be 18 on the day you apply for a bike or scooter licence.

  1. Apply for a learner's licence with Form 1 and Form 2, two passport-size photos, and copies of your address and age proof.
  2. Take the computer test on road signs and traffic rules. You need 60% correct. The fee for one vehicle class is ₹500.
  3. Practise for at least 30 days with someone who has a permanent licence, with a red 'L' on your vehicle.
  4. Before your learner's licence ends (it lasts six months), apply for the permanent licence and take the driving test. The fee is ₹400.

Until you have the permanent licence, you can't do deliveries on a bike alone.

Missing PAN, Aadhaar or a bank account?

  • Link your mobile to Aadhaar first. The e-PAN and e-Shram both send an OTP to that number. Getting Aadhaar is free; changing details at an Aadhaar centre costs ₹75.
  • PAN: if you never had one and your mobile is linked to Aadhaar, you can get an e-PAN free on the Income Tax e-filing website.
  • Bank account: under the Jan Dhan scheme you can open a basic savings account with no minimum balance at any bank branch. Aadhaar is enough as your document.

Keep them handy on your phone

  1. Add your driving licence and RC to DigiLocker or mParivahan. In these government apps they count the same as the originals.
  2. Photos in your phone gallery don't count on the road, so keep the originals safe at home.
  3. Keep your PUC valid. From 1 October 2026, petrol and CNG pumps in Delhi NCR must not fill vehicles without a valid PUC.
  4. Keep clear photos of PAN, Aadhaar and your bank passbook ready for the company's checks.

Questions people ask

How old do I need to be for a driving licence?
Delhi's Transport Department says you must be 18 on the day you apply to get a licence for a motorcycle or scooter. At 16 you can only get one for a gearless two-wheeler of up to 50 cc, and only with your parent's or guardian's consent.
How do I get a learner's licence in Delhi?
Apply with the learner's licence forms (Form 1 and Form 2), two recent passport-size photos and self-attested copies of your proof of address and proof of age. Then you take a computer test on road signs and traffic rules. You pass if you answer 60% of the questions correctly, and the licence is issued the same day. The fee for one vehicle class is ₹500. The Transport Department's website has a question bank to prepare for the test.
When can I get my permanent driving licence?
A learner's licence is valid for six months and is only for learning: you ride with someone who holds a permanent licence, with a red 'L' sign on your vehicle. After 30 days, and before the six months end, you can apply for the permanent licence and take the driving test. Delhi's Transport Department lists the fee for a permanent licence (smart card) as ₹400.
How can I get a PAN card online?
If you have never been given a PAN, are not a minor, and your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar, you can get an e-PAN free of cost on the Income Tax e-filing website. You enter your Aadhaar number, confirm the OTP sent to your mobile, and then download the e-PAN.
Does making or updating Aadhaar cost money?
Aadhaar enrolment is free. Changing only your mobile number, address or other details at an Aadhaar centre costs ₹75. Uploading new proof of identity and address yourself on the myAadhaar portal is free until 14 June 2027. Keep a working mobile number linked to Aadhaar: the e-PAN and e-Shram registration both send an OTP to it.
I don't have a bank account. How do I open one?
Under the government's Jan Dhan scheme (PMJDY), a person who has no bank account can open a basic savings account at any bank branch or Bank Mitra outlet. There is no minimum balance, and you get a RuPay debit card. Aadhaar is enough as your document; without Aadhaar, one of these works: Voter ID, driving licence, PAN card or passport.
Can I show my driving licence and RC on my phone?
Yes, if they are in the DigiLocker or mParivahan app. The Road Transport Ministry says documents such as your driving licence and RC in these two government apps count the same as the originals, so you don't have to carry paper copies. Photos or scans kept elsewhere on your phone do not count.
Do I need a PUC certificate to buy petrol in Delhi NCR?
Yes. Under a direction of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), petrol and CNG stations across Delhi NCR must not refuel vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), from 1 October 2026. In Delhi, cameras at fuel stations read the number plate and check it against vehicle records. Keep your bike's PUC valid so you can fill up.
Do all companies ask for the same documents?
No. The basics repeat (PAN, ID, bank details, and licence and RC for a bike), but each company has its own list. For example, Delhivery lists Aadhaar, PAN and bank details, while Uber Moto lists a licence, RC, insurance, a permit, a photo and proof of residence.
Can I join without a driving licence?
Only for work without a motor vehicle. Swiggy and Swiggy Instamart don't ask for a licence if you deliver by cycle. For a bike or scooter, you need a valid licence.
