What bike taxi work is
You accept a ride in the app, pick up the passenger and drop them where they need to go.
- Rapido: riders are called Captains. There is no fixed shift, but you can be online for at most 12 hours a day. Captains can also take parcel, food and grocery deliveries, so it mixes rides and delivery.
- Uber Moto: your motorbike must be model year 2010 or newer, seat one passenger, and not be salvaged or rebuilt. Uber's process includes an in-person visit to a Partner Seva Kendra with your documents and photo.
How bike taxi pay works
What the two companies say about pay:
- Rapido: you earn the fare for each ride. Rapido collects it from the customer and adds it to your Captain wallet, and you move the money from there to your bank account.
- Uber Moto: you earn the fare for each ride, and Uber pays weekly into your bank account. Uber has moved bike, auto and car drivers in India to a subscription model: you pay a subscription fee instead of a commission on each ride, and the rest of the fare stays with you.
Fees: Rapido says joining as a Captain is free, but its Captain terms allow it to charge fees or a subscription shown in the app, plus taxes. For Uber Moto, ask about any joining fee when our team calls.
Who bike taxi work suits
- Experienced riders. Rapido asks for at least 2 years of driving experience on top of a valid licence.
- People with a clean record. Rapido wants no pending challans on the vehicle and no conviction or pending case for drunk driving or serious crimes in the past 3 years. It also asks for consent to police verification. Uber Moto runs a background screening.
- Owners of a bike with papers in order. Rapido asks for a valid fitness certificate, insurance, PUC and permits; Uber Moto lists insurance and a permit.
- People with time for training. Rapido has a 30-hour induction training before onboarding.

Before you apply
- Clear any pending challans on your bike first; Rapido won't take a vehicle with challans pending.
