What Zepto expects from riders
Zepto is a quick commerce company. Most of what we know comes from its rider agreement:
- You must be an adult living in India, with no criminal conviction and no pending criminal case.
- You bring a smartphone and a two-wheeler and pay their running costs. The exception: Zepto may provide a cycle or an e-cycle.
- On a motorcycle you need a driving licence, RC, pollution certificate and the insurance the law requires.
- Zepto's team does a background verification.
Some riders join through a delivery service provider (a vendor) instead of directly; then that vendor may be the one who pays you.
How Zepto works out pay
There is no fixed per-order rate in Zepto's agreement. Each task earns a service fee based on:
- distance and time taken
- demand, traffic and weather
- your customer rating
You are paid weekly, or over another set period, after taxes. Customer tips are passed on to you.
Ask our team what a shift pays in Delhi when they call.
Money that can be deducted: the agreement says Zepto may charge onboarding and training fees (plus taxes) and a refundable security deposit. These are cut from your payouts in one or more instalments, and the amounts are told at onboarding. Replacing a damaged Zepto t-shirt or bag can also cost a fee. Our joining fees guide explains what to ask.
